God Bless Texas!

The last place on Flat Stanley's vacation extravaganza was good ole Texas with the wonderful Keylee! Texas is getting pretty hot so he stopped for a chilly treat. The best ice cream shop in Austin! They had Belgian Chocolate with walnuts! Yummy!

Stanley had an awesome tour at the capital building.

Stanley's mouth was watering at this place! This is the Raines's favorite place to eat. They have great burgers!

Stanley was all over the place at Pinballz Arcade, he was SO exhausted when he left.

Stanley helped Keyee's son with a research project.   He was blown away by 78.5 mph winds!

After the busy week he has had Stanley relaxed a the library in Cedar Park. Did a little reading and role playing.

Flat Stanley had an amazing time with Keylee and her family.  She was a wonderful host and tanley has so many nice things to say.  Stanley came back home, he was a little home sick.  But he will soon be off to California to see Elizabeth!

Meet Mayor Stanley...

...I mean Flat Stanley met Mayor Steve DeBenedittis on his trip to Virginia! Since Herndon is so close to Washington DC, it's a politically savvy community. Flat Stanley went to Herndon's Town Council public meeting. Herndon is a small town oasis in the busy Northern Virginia community.
Flat Stanley helped his host, Origami Grace (AKA Grace Wolf) with her re-election campaign to the Herndon Town Council! She is one of the 7 Councilmembers (Mayor plus six Councilmembers) that help make important decisions for the town. She is running for re-election on May 1 with her colleagues - you can see all of their political signs in her yard!

Flat Stanley got to visit the local art gallery, Artspaceherndon, for the new show and artisans gallery display. He wanted to buy a few things but forgot his wallet!
Flat Stanley went to work with OrigamiGrace to her pottery studio, Clay Cafe Studios of Chantilly, and loved all the colorful things to paint. He really like hanging out with the skittles inspired coffee mugs! He didn't want to go anywhere near the kiln room, where temperatures reached 1800 degrees!

Finallly Flat Stanley came back to relax and supervise a little gardening. It's been an early spring in Virginia and all the trees and plants are blooming. Stanley was a little bummed to miss out on the cherry blossoms but had fun checking out the massive, un-pruned azaleas at Origami Grace's house. He didn't get to weed, even though it was sorely needed!

Grace was an extremely fabulous host and he was sad to leave, but now he is on his way to Texas, I think he wants to see if everything is bigger there...

Hola, oh wait wrong Mexico...

Stanley had an amazing time with Kaci while in New Mexico. Stanley was very proud getting to hang out with Kaci and her family. He had a fun time at Kirkland Airforce Base Confinement. Kaci's husband is the boss here.

Stanley got a taste of what is was like working at the base, took him awhile to give Kaci her chair back...

Stanley forgot to pack warm clothes, look at what he awakened to! Cold her not he enjoyed it very much!

Stanley got to participate in a very emotional event. This is Harding Field at the AFB. He participated in a 24 hour run for a fallen soldier. SSgt Travis Griffin from 377th Security Forces Squadron deployed to Baghdad in 2008. His mission was to train Iraqi soldiers. Training was off base in downtown. His convoy hit an improvised explosive device while performing training and he was killed. The run in his honor provides his family with all the names of those who participated.
.

Stanley had fun with Alex, and thought it was sweet when he was invited to watch his gymnastics competition.

Stanley was sad to leave, Kaci and her family were such kind hosts. But after his goodbyes he will soon get to say hello to his new host in Virginia!
